Claver Pierre Hategekimana I am Rwandan, born and raised in the rural town of Gahogo-Gitarama. Rwanda is a small, developing country located in East-central Africa. "Of all the students from abroad I’ve met, Claver is an exception in his great desire to return to his own country. Claver does not want to abandon those he left behind or his own culture. He constantly expresses to me his desire to help build a better Rwanda. He is a worthy young man who has demonstrated to us his concern for others, particularly when Rwandans like himself have come to Ames. My husband, John Mayfield, and I believe that Claver can return home to lead his people with energy and entrepreneurial spirit that is very American in nature". I am a student at Wartburg College with a CIS major (Computer Information Systems). After finishing my studies I would like to be a part of technology pioneers. I want to have skills and information that will be unique and which can be applied to work within local or international corporations. I also want to be prepared to get paid for work I genuinely enjoy. I want to use my education to pass on technology and know-how to others. My friends congratulated me on being an entrepreneur. Many people in my country do what they must do to survive and few take the chance of trying something new. I like many of the traditions of my country, but I am also eager to try something different.
